Our curriculum brings together academic learning, communication, wellbeing, practical skills and preparation for adulthood. Teaching is adapted to each learner’s strengths, needs and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes.
Academic skills: reading, English, mathematics, science and digital understanding, taught in clear steps and applied in real tasks.
Vocational learning and enterprise: practical projects that build communication, teamwork, problem solving and work habits.
Creative exploration: art, music, drama and opportunities for expression.
Physical and mental wellbeing: movement, physical education, emotional literacy and strategies for regulation.
Independence and life skills: personal organisation, choice, everyday number, safety and preparation for adulthood.
Community engagement: understanding people and places, citizenship, contribution and participation.

The applied curriculum connects core academic learning with therapeutic wellbeing, project work and vocational experiences.
Core academic learning
Functional English, mathematics and science help learners use knowledge in everyday life.
Wellbeing and personal development
PSHE, relationships and sex education, physical education and wellbeing support confidence, safety and participation.
Projects with a purpose
Local geography and history, environmental studies and community projects give learners reasons to read, calculate, communicate, make choices and reflect.
Enterprise and vocational learning
Planned experiences include horticulture, animal care, catering, creative making, hospitality and retail, where facilities, staffing, risk assessment and individual suitability permit.
The aim is to develop real-life skills, community participation and preparation for adulthood.

Our curriculum connects English and the performing arts; mathematics and enterprise; PSHE and life skills; science and ICT; art and technology; sport and recreation; media; and learning through projects.
Formal and semi-formal routes, including Endeavour and Venture, provide different ways to engage and progress. Assessment helps us adapt challenge, communication and support as needs and achievements change.
PSHE and relationships and sex education are adapted to age and need. Learning includes online safety, respect, equality and fundamental British values. Further information is available on our Policies page.
Assessment considers knowledge and practical skills alongside communication, engagement and independence. Families contribute to target and EHCP reviews. Qualification routes are agreed individually.
Transition planning brings together independence, work-related learning and the support needed for the next setting. Any post-19 provision is arranged separately.
